Why does it matter?
Every single user of technology generates large amounts of information with each passing moment, and this information is stored somewhere on the Web. However, any data on the Web is accessible, whether by legal or illicit means. Furthermore, every single person has information that should be kept private and inaccessible to strangers. Protecting this information is critical. First, however, one must understand how to answer this question: “What is personal or private information?” A person’s private data in the wrong hands can have minimal to dire consequences on one’s life, but the majority of people do not realize this until it is too late. Knowing what information to keep private and what to do if one’s information is on the web is an important aspect of digital responsibility.
