Internet users can post just about whatever they choose. However, this cool way to express oneself can be dangerous. Cybercriminals can use what people share publicly and can take advantage of that information. According to Amy Blake, from Michigan Tech, “Cybercriminals need only a few pieces of information to gain access to your financial resources. Phone numbers, addresses, names, and other personal information can be harvested easily from social networking sites and used for identity theft.” Furthermore, posting personal and inappropriate content on social media can make it difficult for one to get a job. Augusta University states, “It’s important to maintain a social media profile that aligns with the brand of the school you are attending or the employer you are working for.” This is great for a person's self image and how people view others on the internet.
